Corporate Dinner

Kindly supported by Savills

This networking dinner was the first of its kind for NICE, at the exquisite Hotel Du Vin & Bistro in Birmingham with the generous support of Savills. It was very much a business-focused evening with guest speaker, Roger Mendonça, Chief Operating Officer at the West Midlands Growth Company. Roger gave an engaging talk on the West Midlands making its mark on the world. The evening was hosted by the lovely Sam Mann and finished with a buzzing, fast-paced auction delivered by Andrew Grant.

The evening raised a total of £1,875 and received very positive feedback from the guests who joined us.

NICE Climb Snowdon Trek

This year our Climb Snowdon team had their work cut out for them. We heard forecasts of torrential rain and strong winds, then faced the ferocious elements for 6 hours up and down the highest mountain in England and Wales. Typical of NICE supporters, they pushed through the obstacles and challenges to reach the summit. They all banded together and encouraged each other to complete the trek, feeling a great sense of pride to have conquered Snowdon in such difficult conditions.

All their hard work resulted in an incredible £6,542.88 raised for us.

Get in touch with Annie if you’re interested in joining us next year, by emailing anniesmith@conductive-education.org.uk or by calling 0121 442 5563.

NICE Heights Charity Abseil

14 July 2019

Buxton, Derbyshire

The NICE Heights Charity Abseil was absolutely spectacular celebration of the fact that people with disabilities can take on huge physical challenges. Abseiling from a 100ft vaiduct bridge on the infamous Monsal Trail, 10 courageous abseilers took on this incredible feat whilst overcoming a range of barriers and difficulties. Whether it was an acute fear of heights, nerves about the logistics of the day or concerns about how to control their movement whilst abseiling – it was filled with uncertainty in many ways, yet countered by so much certainty in participants’ determination, courage and ambition to take it on. Some abseilers were so proud and inspired they decided to take the leap again and perfected their abseiling techniques. Others took on eye-watering angles to edge themselves off the bridge at the top, because that was how their body needed to move.

Huge challenges faced, many boundaries pushed, tonnes of ability prevailed in the face of disability. And of course we can’t forget the amazing fundraising – with a phenomenal £5,012 raised by our abseilers and their supporters!
