“It is great to come somewhere that understands my husband’s condition. He does not feel that he is the only one now and he is benefiting from the sessions.”

We understand that Parkinson’s is a progressive condition but at NICE we view the person with Parkinson’s as a learner; someone who can learn techniques and strategies to help overcome the challenges the condition presents.

We achieve this by teaching the person how to use their ‘conscious’ brain to override the ‘automatic’ one. In doing this the person gains greater understanding and control over movements, improved skills and increased confidence.

We also recognise that the wider family are also ‘living with Parkinson’s’ but from a different perspective. We therefore also offer advice and support to carers and family members.
